Rules

Site Rating

• 2: Swearing is permitted, with some limitations. This means that mild - moderate swearing in in-character posts is fine, but vulgar, extreme swearing is not. Use your best judgment with this! Your characters can curse, but every other should not be an F-bomb!
• 1: Mild sexual innuendo references permitted in in-character posts. This means that implicit, subtle hints in your character's dialogue or actions are OK, but explicit, obvious actions or speech is not. All posts must fade to black before sexual acts happen.
• 2: Violence is permitted, with some limitations. This means that descriptions of violence are allowed, without explicit, super detailed descriptions of gore. Do not post pictures depicting any blood or gore. This is strictly for writing only! Sticking a [TW] (Trigger Warning) on these posts is always polite!

Our rating does not extend to our out-of-character conduct. Please maintain a mature, polite demeanor when interacting with other members and staff!

Because of the extent of our rating, and in line with Proboards Terms of Service, we ask that no person under the age of thirteen (13) join The Fall of Man. Thank you for your understanding.

Code of Conduct

We expect everyone on The Fall of Man to be respectful and considerate of one another. Disrespect, harassment, or discrimination of any member, staff, or guest will not be tolerated! Please be mindful of what you say to other people and don’t push conversations that make others uncomfortable. You are expected to always maintain a mature, respectful composure with everyone on site and chats.

We are also LGBTQ+ friendly here! As such, we do not tolerate any discriminatory behavior against gender identity, sexuality, or anything else related to the matter.

Members are encouraged to come to staff when they feel this rule is breached, whether it was something someone said in the chat, a post, a private conversation, we will try to step in and help. Screenshots or any other kind of proof you can provide is encouraged, so that we are in the loop!

Roleplaying Stipulations

Conduct

We do not tolerate god-modding, power-playing, retconning, or metagaming on this site! All of the above give characters an unfair advantage over others' characters and are simply not allowed! We strive for an equally enjoyable roleplay experience here, and as such, players whose characters are found doing any of the above will receive a warning, and an eventual ban if the behavior is not corrected! For more information on what these are, we recommend reading "Bad RP" on ForumRoleplay.

Players are not allowed to alter, injure, or murder another player's character without their explicit consent! Should this be done, we recommend you reach out to your roleplay partner and politely ask them to reverse their character's action. If you need help, please reach out to a staff member!

Skill Level

While The Fall of Man is a Literate Roleplay, we welcome roleplay writers of all skill levels to write with us! As a bare minimum, please ensure you have a good grasp on grammar and can write full, coherent sentences and know the basics of how forum roleplays work! It is OK if you’re not familiar with Proboards.

Additionally, we do not enforce a word count requirement here. We only ask that you write enough to give your RP partner something to work with!

Please ensure your posts on The Fall of Man are written in third person POV, past-tense!

Accounts

The Fall of Man is a one account per character roleplay. Please register using your character's first name; if it's taken, use their first and last name using the same spelling. Once they're registered, please edit the Display Name for proper spacing and capitalization!

We do not utilize Player Accounts on TFM, as there is very little use for them. We do, however, require you to fill out your player information in the application AND your characters’ profiles!

Characters

To ensure there’s always a decent balance between animal and human characters, we’ve implemented a ratio rule. For every 1 animal character you have onsite, you may create 2 human characters. For now we've waived this rule!

At this time, there are no restrictions on how many active characters you can have overall, however, please don't take on more characters than you can handle or have time for! This includes High Ranking character claims as well.

Face Claims

We accept all forms of image claims, including images and art.

Human Face Claims must be of models, actors, or depicted subjects (in art) 13 years old or older. We do not permit the use of personal pictures or any picture of a child who is not drawn or a TV/Movie Personality of some kind.

Please do NOT use other people’s art drawings as character face claims, UNLESS you have explicit permission from the artist! The Staff will ask you for screenshot proof in these situations, so please be prepared. No proof, no use.

Commissioned art (art that you paid for), animal photography, etc. is fine! We do not allow the use of fantasy-colored artworks, though! Our animals are realistically-colored, and while slight color differences (for the sake of art style or shading) are OK, we do not accept purple bears or green lions!

Time

This site runs on LIQUID TIME, which means your character can be in multiple threads at once if you so choose. We REQUIRE a month and date to be listed on all threads to avoid timeline confusion and such! Dates are especially important when dealing with injuries, pregnancies, or other events that may greatly impact your character in some way.

Time changes on TFM by season every 4 real-life months. You can have as many threads with your character(s) as you want with any date as long as it's during the current season! The current season is always available via the calendar icon in the header for quick reference.

Activity

We will be performing Activity Checks every two months to check member activity and remove inactive characters. Each active character on board should aim for at least one post per month minimum! Characters that haven’t posted in the two months’ time frame will be deleted at the end of the Activity Check!

If you can’t post, due to personal reasons, and would like to stay on TFM, please contact a staff member before the activity check ends to ensure your accounts aren’t deleted! There will be nothing we can do to bring back your account(s) if they’re deleted after the Activity Check.

Of course, if your account(s) are deleted and you want to come back to the site, you are certainly welcome! And you are welcome to bring back the same characters as well. You will just have to create new account(s).
